Most people do not realize how versatile the designs are for coat racks. They come as trees. These are the racks that are typically thought of in traditional designs. Racks that have umbrella stands are going to be considerably more ornate for the most part. Though there are some modern designs with umbrella stands it is primarily the more traditional Victorian style designs that contain umbrella stands.
Other coat racks to consider are hall trees. Hall trees come in a variety of styles some look like regular coat racks but are flatter on one side so they can sit flush up against the wall while others fallow the more traditional design. Normally hall trees come with a bench. They are designed for a place to sit to take off your coat, hat, and shoes as well as a place to put these items when you have removed them. Some even come with mirrors to allow you a last minute check before heading out the door. Hall trees are typically used in entryways.
